James Robert Eelkema is a Board Certified Family Physician and a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. Born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota, he graduated from the University of Minnesota summa cum laude, and earned his MD from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1979.
He completed a Family Practice Residency in Des Moines, Iowa. With the knowledge, training, and experience of twenty-seven years of primary care, he decided to establish his own practice with its focus on clinical medicine.
I am interested in patients both as individuals and as members of a family. My emphasis is on listening to my patients, making the diagnosis and together embarking on a treatment plan.
Dr. Eelkema lives in Burnsville with his wife Linda. He has five children and one grandchild.
